Day 32 (no longer calling it recovery)

Yes...I am back. I know, I know, it's been a while, which would lead one to believe that I am fully recovered. Psych!!!! Even though I still feel better than before the surgery, I am not completely healed. I have had minor issues over the past month, but I really thought I was getting better. Really.

I. Was. Wrong.

I had been following doctors orders: The ocean spray, the Afrin, and the nose 'roids. Everything seemed to be improving although I still had those gigantic chunks of blood coming out of my nose. All of a sudden, Monday night on the way home, I have a serious issue with my throat, like some sort of gigantic slimy sac is right between my nose and throat. What is it you ask ? BLOOD. Icky snotty blood that I am yacking up and......I guess that's enough detail.

So I call the ENT first thing Tuesday morning and tell them what is up. They tell me they can see me on the 17th. The 17th. Really ? Really ? So I say "really" ? , and they ask me again what is going on and then ask me to hold. They come back fifteen minutes later and say "yeah, it appears you have blood clots...how fast can you get here' ?

Cut to me at the ENT's office. I'm sitting in the lobby room with one other person, and the guy says..."um, I know this is none of my business, but are you having problems with your sinuses"....

ME: "I had surgery almost a month ago"....
LOBBY GUY: "I'm three weeks in. This has been hell. This guy is the worst surgeon in the galaxy"

........Wow...that sucked. So he leaves, and it's my turn. In comes my friend the ENT.

I shouldn't say this, but he is now even more ridiculously good looking than he was before. Anyway, he looks in my nose, and this is the dialogue....

ENT: "what are you taking" ?
ME: "all the stuff you told me too"
ENT: "like what" ?
ME: "well....afrin"
ENT: "you shouldn't take that"
ME: "and the topical steroids"
ENT: "yeah, like, if you take those, you need to point the spray towards the outside of your eye so you don't mess up your septum"...
ME: "and the Ocean Spray"
ENT: "...ummm yeah, that's like, okay, but the other stuff could be causing problems"
ME: " Doctor, I hope this does not come across as a stupid question, but wouldn't it have been better if you had told me about the Afrin and the steroids when you gave me the prescription " ?
ENT: blank stare
ENT: "well, it's like the Afrin will contribute to the bleeding, and, the steroids, unless you use them properly, can be really tough on your septum, which is like, this part in the front"
ME: blank stare

So now I have this weird bloody nose thing, I can't work out, and my ENT is starting to piss me off. Oh yeah, and, there has just been this reorganization at work.....

He tells me to take oral steroids (which I won't) and Mucinex, the high test pills.

By Friday I was back to skull crushing headache in the afternoon. Okay, I hadn't eaten anything but watermelon juice and was under massive pressure, but still.
